Our Policies

Lynn Early Learning Centre aims to provide the best possible experience for children and families. We strongly suggest our parents to read our policies and procedures in advance. We follow our policies and procedures in order to create a caring and organized space. 

Policies

1. Arrival, Departure, Safe Release, and Late Departures

All parents/guardians are required to sign in and out each day. In order to protect every child's safety, please make sure a staff member knows of your arrival and departure.

The child will only be accepted and released in the presence of the teacher and only to be released to the people listed on the registration form. Prior notification is required for a child to be released to an authorized adult not listed on the registration form. The appropriate prior notification includes but is not limited to phone calls, email notifications, etc. Personal identification is required when releasing the child to a temporarily authorized adult. 

A late pick-up fee of $1.00 per minute will incur 10 minutes after closing time. Consistent lateness without prior notification from parents may result in withdrawal and loss of service.

2. Snow days and extreme weather 

The snow could get very extreme up on Burke Mountain, Lynn Early Learning Centre will contact parents ahead of time if the daycare would not be able to open. 

 

3. Lunch 

Your child will be required to bring a nutritious lunch with fruit and vegetables. Educators will help to warm up the food with a microwave if it is needed. 

Lynn Early Learning Centre will provide two healthy snacks throughout the morning and afternoon. Under no circumstance, educators will force a child to consume any food or drink. We will not leave a child unsupervised while consuming food or drink, nor will the teacher give food or drink as a form of reward or punishment for children.

 

4. Exclusion policy due to illness 

In order to protect the entire group of children and families, we ask parents to keep their children at home if they have experienced any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours: 

  • Fever over 37.5 C/ 99F-  - children can return at least 24 hours after the start of treatment

  • Difficulty in breathing

  • Diarrhea or vomiting - - children can return at least 24 hours after the start of treatment

  • A rash 

  • Eye discharge or pink eye - children can only return once they are recovered

  • Exposure to communicable diseases such as Covid, chicken px, mumps, measles, pneumonia, persistent cough, etc. 

If your child comes with any of these symptoms at the daycare or starts to have these symptoms at the daycare, educators will immediately call parents to come and pick him/ her up.

5. Immunization 

It is necessary that the daycare have an up-to-date immunization record of each child. Parents will be asked to fill out a form with a copy of immunization records upon registration , please keep us informed of any new immunization. 

 

6. Medical emergency 

Lynn Early Learning Centre has two First Aid kits and all staff hold their valid First Aid and CPR certificates.

In the event of a serious accident, allergic reaction, or any other emergency situation, 911 will be called immediately. The parent/guardian or emergency contact person will also be contacted.  In the event of an outbreak of a disease, we will send a notice to all parents/guardians and notify the local medical health officer within 24 hours of the outbreak. Appropriate follow-up measures by the health authority will be taken if necessary. 

 

7. Medical administration 

Parents need to fill out a consent form if they would like educators to administer any prescription or medication. Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that we follow specific procedures as follows: 

  • Medication must be provided in the original container and be labeled with the child’s name

  • The consent form must be completed by the parent with instructions on administering the medication in person with the educators. 

  • The medication will be stored in a locked container with instructions. 

  • Educators will keep a record of the medication administered.

8. Allergies 

Parents are responsible to give previous written notice when they register if their child has any allergies. Our daycare also does not provide any food that contains nuts, parents will also be notified not to bring any nuts to daycare before they join the program.
